In this three hour workshop, learn the 1000 year old Japanese technique of “Floating Ink”! Using finely
ground pigments to create floating patterns atop a water size to be captured on a sheet of paper. Students will be able to take home 30-40 marbled papers from their session.

Supplies: All supplies will be provided. Please wear clothes that can get ink on them and bring an apron!

Sustenance: Light refreshments will be provided.

Christin Ripley is an artist and designer working out of Catskill, NY. She received her BFA from The Cooper Union in 2005. She has held multiple internships, residencies and volunteered at: The Center for Book Arts NYC, Pyramid Atlantic Silverspring MD, Dieu Donne NYC, Womens Studio Workshop NY, Brooklyn Museum Library NY. 

Her studio practice uses sculpture, printmaking, marbling, sewing, woodworking, papermaking and bookbinding techniques to produce work in four focused areas:
1. Objects ‘n the Round, a line of functional objects consisting of pillows, bags, and notebooks.
2. Community Supported Editions(CSE), a subscription based art project using the farmer’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model. Only instead of distributing food, each CSE member annually gets a piece of edition based art. 
3. Collaborations and Commissions, providing services in sign painting, seamstress work, printed fabric by   the yard, prototyping, fabricating.
4. Workshops, teaching bookbinding, marbling, pastepaper, relief printing on fabric in the NY Capital district, Hudson Valley, and New York City.
